The Top 5 vegan places to try in London during World Vegan Month
November 1st is World Vegan Day, not only because everything has ‘a day’ these days. It’s also to mark the start of World Vegan Month. This is actually to mark the anniversary of the launch of the Vegan Society back in 1944. So expect plenty of vegan offers, freebies and the like. We’ve already been chomping on Oatly’s ‘illegal’ but super tasty cookies.
Even GBK is giving away 900 jackfruit burgers to celebrate World Vegan Day (actually 10 per restaurant) in a bid to stay relevant.
All that aside, LDN Life has caught the vegan bug this year. We’ve posted over 15 previews and reviews of vegan based events and restaurants in 2018. Thanks mainly our vegan editor and hugely popular blogger in her own right Nicole.
So here are our favourites of the year so far (in no particular order)
1. Discover Exceptional Vegan Indian Food at Chakra
Nicole couldn’t praise them highly enough. “I cannot recommend Chakra enough. This is easily 5 out of 5 and my favourite meal in 2018 so far. The vegan scene has exploded with junk food stalls and ready meals this year, so it’s great to visit a restaurant that truly appreciates the taste of healthy and hearty plant-based food. I look forward to returning and trying more from their vegan menu.”

2. Rascals: Drag Nights, Stargaritas & Plant Based Delights – Review
Another place with high praise from Nicole. “Without a doubt, this is the best night out I’ve had in London. Starting classy and quirky in Rascals and leading to down and dirty Ballie Ballerson. The restaurant is such great value for money, I hadn’t expected such premium quality food and service. I have a feeling I’ve only scratched the surface of what Rascals have to offer and can’t wait to come back for more.”
3. By Chloe, the chic New York restaurant
Conveniently located within Covent Garden, the mega-popular US vegan restaurant By Chloe launched back in February. Following the success of their first site in London they now also have one by Tower Bridge. Nicole gave their award-winning, plant-based, fast-casual food 4 stars and recommended their Fish n Chips, Mac n Cheese and one of their many Cupcakes. YUM!!!!
4. The Wildflower in Peckham
Another 4 stars and the food is simply beautiful to look at and east. Nicole gave this restaurant 4 stars. The menu is well priced, the recipes are creative and innovative, the space is beautiful (#instagold) and with a kids menu, this place is also family friendly. The only con is that Peckham can be difficult to reach depending on your side of London. I’ll definitely be finding a reason to return.

5. Vegan Nights
No list of places get your vegan on (is that a thing?) is complete without Vegan Nights. In my opinion, it’s the perfect place for people to experiment with what is possible with plant-based food, whether you’re a long time vegan, thinking about becoming one or just trying to eat less meat in general.
When I went, my eyes and my belly was amazed by the vegan food that’s being made across London. The only thing that let the score down was the drinks on offer weren’t as interesting or adventurous as the food. The next one is 1st November, but tickets are sold out, however you might be able to pay on the door, check their website for more info.
