The Christmas Pudding Burger that’s crying out to be Instagrammed

The Christmas Pudding Burger that’s crying out to be Instagrammed

You can now get the taste of Christmas in and around your mouth thanks to Burger Craft  who have launched its delicious Christmas Pudding Burger.

We went to sample one at The White Ferry in Victoria, one of six pubs in London serving it until the end of December to see what the fuss was about. From only £10 you can enjoy the burger which comes complete with a jet black charcoaled brioche buns, filled with delicious Cumberland sausage patties, oak and chestnut smoked streaky Suffolk bacon, Xmas Pudding Chutney and a Wensleydale custard.

As for the burger itself, my friend Dave decided to go cheese custard free and eat it like a normal burger. Though, he did add some to the inside to see what it was like. As for me, I when all in and backed up with a knife and fork. Plus, a decent supply of napkins.

Whilst we both decided to eat our burgers in different ways, we both agreed that it was absolutely delicious. The adult playfulness of the burger and the tastes and textures just worked. The pops of crispy bacon against the tangy Xmas pudding chutney was a stroke of genius.

The drinks menu also has a distinctly festive twist featuring the Holy Negroni made with Sacred Xmas Pudding Gin, English Spiced Vermouth, rosehip cup and dried orange. Or there was Gingerbread Espresso Martini, a warming Spiced Berry Tea, a Turkish Delight Hot Chocolate.

Apparently another great pairing for the burger is the Super 8 Cherry beer from Haacht Brewery, but we didn’t find out until afterwards. Next time! As you can see, we went with the Holy Negroni and holy s*&£ it was good.

As for the White Ferry itself. It feels like a proper London Boozer that’s been brought up to date in the right ways. There was a wonderful shouty wizard comparing the quiz on a Thursday night, and football on in the other room. We loved the vibe and the staff, though run off there feet were great.

Ben Stackhouse, Founder and CEO of PubLove and Burger Craft had this to say:

“We did a limited trial last year and people went nuts for it and we sold out in no time, so we’ve decided to max it this year and make it the star of the show. When you think about some of the Secret Santa gifts that people end up giving out at this time of year, we think this is a gifting winner. We are famed for our burgers, but our regulars are telling us they are up for a bit of extra fun this year as everything has felt so dreary these last few months,”

The burger is available across six London pubs from Friday November 25th through to the end of December 2022 at the price of £10 and when I asked Dave what he thought, he used the cheese custard he didn’t eat and some of the other props to make a smiley face. High praise indeed.

The pubs include: The White Ferry, Victoria – The Crown, Battersea – The Green Man, Paddington – The Rose & Crown, London Bridge – The Steam Engine, Waterloo and The Exmouth Arms, Euston.

Fancy something else? Burger Craft is already famed for its range of burgers from British beef through vegan to plant-based versions with best sellers including The Juicy Bastard, The Hen Solo, The Cheesus Christ and The Guac’n’Roll. They offer a range of loaded fries, special pickles, sides and sauces with an everyday special of a cheeseburger and fries at a wallet friendly £6.50.

Finally, we were told that they do the best gravy in London. We’ll be back to see if that claim stacks up, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
