Photography-based event brings together the creative community of London

A new networking event intent on snapping new life into the creative community of London starts this weekend, which promises to offer a new twist on the conventional networking event. The Photo Hunt, taking place this weekend (October 26) in Shoreditch, is looking to bring together photographers, bloggers, and creatives from the area to explore East London while building relationships.

We are told takes inspiration from traditional scavenger hunts, and will encourage participants to build relationships while they are racing against the clock, putting the emphasis on interaction by assigning the teams a list of tasks to photograph.

Naturally we were rather excited by the event so we briefly caught up with the co-founders of Photo Hun Ché Dyer, Lulu Johnson and Bobbi O’Gilvie, to find out a bit more about the event.

Why Photo Hunt?

Ché: “Bloggers by nature are sharers–they put their lives, words, thoughts, pictures and poetry out on the internet because they want to share, but it can be awkward to approach the person standing next to them in the flesh”

What’s the aim of the event?

Bobbi: “We wanted to give attendees the opportunity to have fun and get to know each other outside of the sterile environment of a traditional networking event. We know bloggers want to come together and meet, but also how intimidating it can be once you’re in the room with 50 people you’ve never met before.”

What one thing do you hope attendees will take away from Photo Hunt?

Lulu: “We know the importance of spending time with others in your industry, especially if you work on your own for the majority of the time. To get to learn from and share with other creatives is priceless.”

So with the setting of Boxpark in Shoreditch, a pop-up mall well known for its quirkiness, it should provide a rather fitting backdrop for the event. Attendees are asked to gather at Boxpark on the morning of the event to get their task lists and then meet teammates and get the instructions.

Finally once the Photo hunt is complete, the groups will re-gather for food, drinks, and prizes. Sadly they wouldn’t tell us what the prizes were, apparently if we want to find out we have to go ourselves, so that is exactly what we are doing. So if this sounds like the event for you, we might see you there.

Tickets are on sale through October 22 and can be purchased through the event’s website
