Today (July 15), Eggslut Fitzrovia opens its doors to the public for the first time at their new 10th worldwide location, 19 Percy Street. The pioneering gourmet food concept famous for soft and comforting egg sandwiches celebrates the launch of its second UK restaurant in-line with Government guidelines. Plus, the restaurant hires hospitality workers who were made redundant as a result of the pandemic
The modern, industrial chic restaurant is split over two levels with a street-level front terrace for outdoor dining, a bespoke art mural created by London based street-artist Woskerski and egg booth installation from Bompas and Parr. All signature eggslut menu items are available at Fitzrovia, including:
The Fairfax – a sandwich made from soft scrambled eggs and cheese, served in a brioche bun.
The Slut – made from a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato puree, poached in a glass jar and served with baguette slices.
And special menu item The Gaucho – seared wagyu tri-tip steak, over medium fried egg, chimichurri, red onions and dressed arugula in a warm brioche bun.
Eggslut has again partnered with British favourites Clarence Court eggs, Bread Ahead bakery and Nude Coffee Roasters. All menu items are cooked fresh to order using the highest quality locally sourced ingredients and no freezers are used on site. The eggslut concept originated as a chef meal in a two Michelin star restaurant and this chef-driven quality remains at the core of each dish.
Eggslut Fitzrovia has adapted its restaurant design for the launch to align with social distancing measures and safely welcome customers. The new design, which has also been adopted by the existing Portobello Road restaurant, cashless payment, a one-way walking system and the installation of plastic screens at tills. One-metre distances apply between all customers, whilst staff all wear plastic gloves and masks.
To manage and operate the new Fitzrovia site, eggslut has hired hospitality workers who were made redundant as a result of COVID-19. The recruitment drive follows eggslut’s ongoing support of front-line workers during lockdown, which has seen the brand offering a 50% discount and arranging twice-weekly free sandwich deliveries to staff at University College London, as well as regular deliveries to St.Charles and St. Thomas Hospitals and support non-profit Feed our Frontline.
The Fitzrovia location will join eggslut’s Portobello Road destination on Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat, allowing even more egg lovers in the nearby locations of Embankment, South Bank, Marble Arch, Green Park, Regent’s Park, Camden, Farringdon, Piccadilly and St. James’s to enjoy the gourmet food concept.
eggslut, Fitzrovia and Portobello Road are open from 8am until 5pm every day of the week. Superfans should head down early if you want to beat the queue.
