A Grape Night In, a pop-up wine company – Interview

A Grape Night In, a pop-up wine company – Interview

We’ve been big fans of A Grape Night In, long before this website was a twinkle in our eyes. Their current Skyroom Pop-Up near London Bridge goes a long way to8c551320510611e2a30c22000a1f9683_6
showing off just how far they have come over the last year or so.

So with out further ado, meet the Girls Kiki and Laura or is that Laura and Kiki?

Why did you decide to set up A Grape night in?

Laura initially had the idea of ‘A Grape Night In’ years ago to bring fun wine experiences to people’s homes. With the recession and the flourish of pop-up businesses starting, it was the perfect opportunity to offer consumers an affordable alternative for enjoying wine. We were both at a point in our careers where we wanted to branch out with our own ideas and we wanted to bring our youthful approach to the stereotypically stuffy wine world.

Why is it so special?

Well firstly with our private events, we bring the wine to you! But seriously the main things that we do differently are that we talk about wine in an everyday way by linking the wines to familiar topics such as music, the weather, celebrities and even the recession…

Where can we normally find you?

We have public events at Seven at Brixton, The Rookery Clapham Common and The Skyroom in London Bridge – with many more to come soon!

Why did you chose those locations? What makes them special?

We’re really lucky in the fact that when we have found places we love, we have approached them to use their space for events and they have all said yes.  The venues we use for our pop-ups have their own quirkiness and individuality, quite different to the ‘typical’ wine bar.

What is your signature dish/drink etc?

We love wines with a story, it’s this story of the producer, the grape, or the way it’s made (and of course how they taste!) that really sets them apart from the average wines available. And we have a particular soft spot for sherry…

Why should we come and visit you?

Grape Britain

If you love wine come and find us! If you want to learn a little more about wine, try something different, or just enjoy wine in a more down to earth environment A Grape Night In is where you’ll find it.

And finally what exciting events, news etc. have you got coming up?

We’ve just gone full time on AGNI so we’re busy planning the next few months talking with new venues about potential projects… so keep your eyes on twitter for announcements!

Editors last words:

Their August theme of Extreme wines and food starts 7th August, it promises a selection of wines & small plates that like to live life on the edge and we think it’s well worth a look.

We’ve been to some of their previous themes and never been disappointed and we doubt this one will either, so expect a review soon.
